Clean both the cone on the gear shaft and the cone inside the drum. Seat the drum on the shaft cone so the shaft shear pin falls into its slot in the drum cone. Then tighten the drum screw and washer to the manual's torque: 220 plus or minus 20 Nm for the Workman II 250 (about 162 ft-lb) and 300 plus or minus 20 Nm for the Workman II 350 (about 221 ft-lb). These figures come from the Workman II 250 and 350 manuals. Use the parts drawings to identify the shear pin and drum cone parts if you need replacements.
